Four years after WWII had ended the first official committee of the London Taxi Drivers’ Fund for Underprivileged Children was formed. Money was raised and local tradesmen donated sweets and fruit. The children were transported by 20 taxis to the seaside town of Margate to enjoy the Pier and Dreamland Amusement Park.
