After 60 years the LTFUC celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. A birthday party was held, courtesy of Grosvenor House, Park Lane, where 650 underprivileged and handicapped children were entertained in The Great Room. That same year an outing was organised to take 350 children from the East End to London Zoo, via Buckingham Palace where Her Majesty the Queen was waiting to meet the children. The BBC made a documentary of the day called ’60 Glorious Years.’
