In a momentous occasion celebrating their dedication to London’s children, two distinguished committee members of the LTCFC were honoured with an invitation to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, 7th May 2025.
Claire Zazzara and John Godfrey, accompanied by their partners, represented the charity’s 97-year legacy of service at this prestigious event. The invitation stands as a testament to LTCFC’s unwavering commitment to supporting children across London.

The afternoon unfolded like a scene from a fairy tale, with the committee members and their partners joining hundreds of elegantly dressed guests in the magnificent gardens of Buckingham Palace. They were treated to an exquisite selection of traditional garden party fare – delicate sandwiches and perfectly crafted cakes, complemented by Earl Grey tea served in the palace’s picturesque grounds.
The already memorable occasion reached its pinnacle when the familiar strains of ‘God Save the King’ announced the arrival of Their Majesties. King Charles and Queen Camilla graciously descended the palace steps to mingle with guests, adding their royal presence to the celebration. The afternoon was further enhanced by appearances from other members of the Royal Family, including the Princess Royal, Prince William, and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
As the melodious sounds of the bandstand filled the air, this special recognition served as a proud moment for LTCFC, acknowledging nearly a century of charitable work bringing joy to thousands of London’s children. The invitation to the Royal Garden Party reflects not just on Claire and John, but on every volunteer, driver, and supporter who has contributed to the charity’s mission since 1928.
