On Wednesday 14th May, the LTCFC placed a plaque on the brand new summer playhouse at Crofton Special Needs Primary School in Bromley. We first had an appeal from them earlier in the year asking if we would consider taking their children on one of our taxi outings. We visited the school to discuss the idea but soon realised that logistically it would not be possible because of the location of the school. However, during the chat they mentioned that if outings were not possible, then maybe we could consider donating a brand new summer playhouse for the children to be erected in the playground. After looking at plans of what they had in mind, at our next committee meeting, we voted unanimously to help them. We realised that this was an opportunity for the children, some of whom are non-verbal and even some who could not walk or talk properly, to experience outdoor playtime in a safe and secure place whatever the weather. This was to be a whole new experience for them, and we saw what it meant to them when we once again visited the school on the 14th.
The whole project was up and running and a brand new custom built wooden playhouse was being used by happy and laughing children having the time of their lives. This was a very satisfying end to a chance appeal about outings.
Again, thanks go to all our supporters who give us the opportunity to help these children live a better life. We may get the credit, but it would not happen without you.
